In the last quarter of 2021, the state-of-the-art plant reached a total production volume of one million tons of sustainably produced high performance lightweight recycled board since the completion of the conversion investment in August 2018.
Using the latest technology, the Madrid plant is home to one of Europe’s most cost effective recycled corrugated board machines and primarily serves the IP network of 23 corrugated board packaging plants across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) with its premier Prime® product line. .

A leader in sustainability, the Madrid plant was the first in Spain to implement a closed loop recycled water system 100% connected to the municipal system. In addition, the mill is 100% energy self-sufficient. Last but not least, the company’s recycling business, CARPA, is one of the largest collectors of old corrugated cardboard containers and other waste paper in the Madrid region, collecting some 12,000 tonnes per month. These waste papers are then transformed into new cardboard at the Madrid factory, for the network of IP packaging factories to convert them back into cardboard. And the cycle continues.
