Four Nations hail Saudi Arabia, UAE efforts to support Yemen’s economy

RIYAD – The ambassadors to Yemen from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, and the charge d’affaires of the United States met on Wednesday (September 15) to discuss the situation in Yemen, in particular issues related to the economy of Yemen. .

Quad nations have noted with concern the depreciation of the riyal, the corresponding rise in food prices and the severe repercussions on Yemen’s economy and humanitarian situation.

The Quad nations hailed Saudi Arabia’s significant contribution to Yemen’s economy, including the petroleum derivatives subsidy, and called on the Yemen government to take all necessary measures to stabilize the economy.

The Quad Nations are committed to supporting the government in this effort, including through the work of its Technical Advisory Committee on the Economy.

The Quad nations stressed the importance of rapid progress in the implementation of the Riyadh Accord and welcomed the contributions of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to this agenda.

The Quad nations also stressed the need for the government of Yemen to return to Aden as soon as possible, noting that this would be necessary to oversee future international support for economic recovery.

Finally, the Quad nations underlined their commitment to a comprehensive political solution to the conflict in Yemen and expressed their full support to the new United Nations Special Envoy, Hans Grundberg. -SPA
