The nocturnal economy refers to all economic activity that occurs between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. in the service industry, covering a wide range of business activities, including transportation, attractions, catering, tourism, entertainment and more.

Nighttime attraction bookings up 469% over last year

On average, Chinese consumers made 1.3 nighttime attraction reservations in the first half of 2021, spending RMB187 per person. Nighttime attraction bookings made on the Group Ctrip platform increased 469% from 2020 and 120% from 2019. 40% of nighttime attraction bookings were for attractions within travel radius short. .

Tourists tend to consume more at night

The demand for more immersive nighttime tourism products is also fueling the secondary consumption that tourists bring to destinations. Although reservation rates are generally lower at night, secondary consumption is often higher than during the day.

According to data from the Ctrip Community page, content related to nightlife tourism increased by 130% in the first half of 2021 compared to last year.
